Swami Vivekanand (12Jan 1863 - 4July 1902)
Swami vivekanand born on 12January 1863 at Calcutta. It was the day of an important Hindus festival Makar Sankranti. His father, Vishwanath Dutta was a famous lawyer. His mother, Bhuneshwari Devi was a religious woman.
Vivekanand's childhood name was Narendra Nath Dutta. Narendra was curious about God. He met many saints but they couldn't satisfy him. Once he met Ram Krishna Paramhans. Narendra asked him "Have you seen God?
Without any hesitation Ram Krishna replied" Yes, I have seen God. I see him as I see you. God can be seen. "
Narendra was astounded. For the first time, he was face to face with a man who had seen God. He could feel that these words were uttered from the depth of heart. They could not be doubted. Ram Krishna paramhans touched Narendra and he experienced the presence of God. From that day Narendra became his disciple
The Parliament of Religions was going to be held at Chicago in America Swami Vivekanand went there without invitation. He maneged to get change for addressing the parliament on 11 September, 1893.When he spoke, the whole world listened to him surprisingly.
Swami vivekanand presented the principal of Hinduism. The young unknown monk of India became a famous figure of the religious world. His life size portraits were posted in the streets of Chicago. He became the greatest religious figure of the world. He travelled to many countries to spread the message of Hinduism. He dide on 4July , 1902.
